Our values
The Christian Enquiry Agency provides information about Jesus Christ and the Christian faith on behalf of all the major churches in the UK and Ireland. In doing so it respects these core values:
> The Agency exists to provide a central information and enquiry point for those wanting to discover or find out more about Christianity and its impact on life and faith. The primary audience is those who are beyond the fringes of the churches.
> The Agency seeks to respond to enquirers in a personal and sensitive way that reflects the nature of the enquiry and the enquirer. It uses appropriate and helpful methods of communication (including personal contact by Christians who have been validated for this purpose).
> The Agency’s definition of evangelism is broadly defined, and characterised by ‘helping people take steps of faith’ as well as by making an actual commitment to be a disciple of Christ.
> The Agency’s responses to enquirers reflect a conventional Christian theological understanding and not a narrow theological or denominational position.
Two specific measures protect those who contact us:
> If we are contacted by a child, we include a courteous letter to a parent or carer in what we send to the postal address. It explains who we are and invites communication if there is any uncertainty. If children ask for ongoing email contact, we forward the request to Christians who have the experience and security procedures to ensure that they find what they need safely and appropriately.
> We attempt to ensure that information is not requested for third parties, so that no one receives information that has been requested without their knowledge by well meaning (or possibly malicious) friends and neighbours. Typically, we may send a preliminary postcard checking that the person at the address we have been given really does want to receive contact from a Christian.
All this information is sent free of charge, accompanied by a warm, personal message in the prayerful hope that it will increase the joy in people’s lives.
